Description

What can WE do when the media misrepresents Muslims and Islam? IS there anything we can do?

Assalam alaykum wa rahamatullah.

We all know that, when done right, the media can be a force for good and an incredible source of information. However, in recent years due to unfavourable reporting and questionable journalism, a culture of distrust has grown between the media and the Muslim community here in the UK.

It is time we turn this around and start to re-claim the narrative of Muslims and Islam!

To help us all make this happen, the MCB's Centre for Media Monitoring is now offering FREE training workshops to help the community more proactively and effectively engage with the media:

Media Complaints Training

Our aim is to make it more difficult for the media to publish inaccurate and misleading information on Muslims and Islam. Our Media Complaints Training takes participants through the basic skills needed to make effective complaints to both print and broadcast media watchdogs. The sessions are practical with hands on experience using real examples. After completing the training, you will be invited to join our nationwide volunteer network of Media Monitors.
